Manchones Reef is one of the best dive sites off Isla Mujeres. The over 800 meters of reef are filled with staghorn, elkhorn, and brain corals. The natural reef also contains two artificial reefs, namely two of the sculptures from the Underwater Museum of Art – the “The Man on Fire” and “The Ernest Hemingway Desk”.
Marine life includes species such as wrasses, blue tangs, grunts, snappers, spotted trunkfish, queen angelfish, parrotfish, king crabs, lobsters, stingrays, and nurse sharks.
Manchones is a shallow spot only 10 meters/33 feet deep. You can dive here all year round. The average water temperature is 28° C/82° F. Underwater visibility is around 20 meters/66 feet.
