Elphinstone Reef

Improve

Elphinstone Reef is one of the most exciting dive sites in the world. Thousands of divers come here every year to swim alongside white-tip sharks and hammerheads. It's one of the few places in the world where you can encounter these creatures.

The cigar-shaped reef that's built around a subterranean mountain is filled with plateaus and caves. The reef is covered in soft corals, sponges, sea whips, and large gorgonians.

As for the marine life, apart from the various species of sharks, divers can also spot angelfish, anthias, triggerfish, and emperors. There's also chances of seeing barracudas and dolphins.

Elphinstone Reef is a deep dive of up to 40 meters (131 feet), and the currents can get very strong, which is why it's recommended only to advanced divers.

Outstanding visibility of over 30 meters (98 feet)! The reef can be dived all year round.
