El Meridian used to be a minesweeping ship during the Second World War, and after the conflict ended it was turned into a shipping boat.
Between 1973 and 2005 it served as a touristic ship, and in the end it was scuttled so as to become an artificial reef and an attraction for divers.
El Meridian currently lies at 30 meters deep, and this 40-meter-long wreck is therefore accessible only to the advanced and experienced divers.
The marine life here includes sardines, triggerfish, groupers, tunas, stingrays as well as the occasional angel sharks.
