Vaavu Atoll, traditionally known as Felidhe Atoll is the channel diving and fishing capital of Central Maldives. It is also the atoll with the least inhabited islands with just 5. Located just 60 minutes by speedboat and 3 hours by dhoni (ferry) from the Velana International Airport, this is heaven for adrenaline junkies. Of course, the atoll can cater to divers of all levels, but the strong current filled beautiful channels of Vaavu are what makes the atoll so close to the hearts of hardcore divers. From the shark filled channel of "Miyaru Kandu" literally meaning Shark Sea and the beautiful saffron to the purple colored walls of "Lhiththolhu Kandu" (Golden Wall) and the florescent green colored soft coral vines of "Hurahu Kandu" (Fonthteyo", this is a true divers delight.

Fulidhoo Dive & Water Sports is a registered PADI Five Star Dive Resort, the only one on the island, we and offer many PADI courses.
We offer a range of boat diving choices, with a two-tank dive trip leaving the island most mornings and a one-tank dive available in the afternoon.
Situated in Fulidhoo, the dive centre sits at the heart of channel diving territory. The atoll is well-known for being home to many large pelagic creatures, dozens of grey reef sharks, and vast schools of big eye trevallies and this incredible wildlife makes for some high-adrenaline diving! Night dives are a popular excursion choice – especially to the world famous Alimatha house reef, where divers can encounter hundreds of schooling nurse sharks – supposedly one of the world’s largest known congregations!
To really make this most of this atoll, we recommend that you are comfortable in medium-strong current.
TGI Maldives comprises four dive centers strategically located nearby the Maldives’ world-renowned dive sites.
The first one opened in 1984 on the island of Halaveli, followed by Thulagiri in 1988 and Hudhuveli in 1989. The two latter were soon closed as we decided to expand TGI Diving International to the Red Sea and Honduras at that time.
Alimatha is the complete Maldivian destination for all tourists because it has it all: world-level diving for both experienced and beginners, aquarium-like snorkeling sites, emerald shallow waters for swimming and playing with the kids, completely surrounded by sand with both secluded areas and a central beach location with bar, music and animation, Areyuvedic massage centre, watersports corner with windsurfing, canoeing and cat sailing, main restaurant and specialty one. By choice Alimatha does not have TVs or telephones in the guest rooms; this by itself says a lot about the philosophy behind Alimatha Resort.
