Spiny rock lobster
Alternative names: Jasus edwardsii, southern rock lobster, red rock lobster
This species of rock lobster is found throughout coastal waters of southern Australia and New Zealand (including the Chatham Islands). The males reach a maximum length of 58 centimeters while the females grow no longer than 43 centimeters. The size of the caparace ranges from 10 to 23.5 centimeters in males and from 9 to 18 centimeters in males.
