Description

VUILNISBELT POORTVLIET Nederland, Zeeland Challenging dive site Vuilnisbelt, also known as Tuttelhoekje or Vuilbak, has a varied bottom and an interesting marine life. The spot is home to porcelain crab and sea dahlias. In autumn a wide variety of nudibranchs can be seen and from April onwards, cuttlefish and squid thrive. Dive over the sandy bottoms, rock formations and oyster banks. Vuilnisbelt is most beautiful between 3 and 15 meters. Deeper, the vegetation diminishes and you end up on a sandy bottom. The name Vuilnisbelt refers to a former, nearby garbage dump that was closed in 1992. Particulars Enter Vuilnisbelt via the stairs around the corner of the dike. Start 20 minutes before the turn of the tide to be able to drift back to the entry point. Warnings Don't dive in Vuilnisbelt in southern wind stronger than wind force 4. Dive at high tide to shorten the walking distance after your dive. Watch out for fishing lines.
