The stone crab inhabits the waters of the western North Atlantc, from Connecticut to Belize. Their lifespan is seven to eight years. The animals are brown with gray spots and their carapace can reach 170 mm (6.5 inches) in width. Stone crabs feed on mollusks, crustaceans, and polychaete worms.
