Stargazers are a family of fish that includes eight genera which can be found in shallow and deep saltwaters around the world. They can grow up to 90 centimeters in length and have a large, upward-facing mouth and a large head. Their dorsal and anal fins
are relatively long and their bodies usually have a brownish colour.
Stargazers have two venomous spines behind their opercles and above their pectoral fins, while two genera, namely Astroscopus and Uranoscopus, can also cause electrick shocks.
