Squirrelfish are fish belonging to the family Holocentridae that encompass about 70 species. They live in tropical parts of the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans.

They are recognized by their large eyes and - most often - red color. Many are marked with white, yellow, or black.

The largest species can grow to a size of 60 cm (24 in) in length.
