red octopus

Red octopuses are named so for their red or reddish brown color. But like any other octopus, they can change color to yellow, brown, white, or other colors. It can also alter its skin texture to match its surroundings - sand or rock.

These octopuses are common from Alaska to Baja California. They live under rocks, in kelp beds, or over sandy seabeds at depths down to meters.
