The sea goldie is an anthia found in the Indo-Pacific region. The coloring differs according to the sex of the fish. Females have an orange to yellow color while males are purplish with a yellow spot on the scales. Both sexes exhibit an orange stripe across the cheek. Orange bassets are found around coral outcrops, patch reefs, and steep slopes down to a depth of 35 meters.
