Leather corals are characterized by their "leathery" appearance, looking almost like a leather glove. They have eight tentacles and eight mesentaries on their polyps. As they age, they develop a folded aspect.

A single colony of leather corals can grow to a width of 1 meter. The corals can be brown, green, or yellow with colored polyps.

Often seen in Tablas Strait
