The fan-bellied filefish is a species of filefish that can be found in Eastern Indian Ocean and in the west part of Pacific Oceans.
Its most distinctive feature is its upturned, pointed snout, its fan-shaped caudal fin and the large dewlap.
Its colors are changing depending on the surrounding in order to deter predators. It can have a darker color when its swimming over mussels, or it can have a lighter, cream color when its swimming above a sandy seabed.
