The European Conger is the largest eel in the world and can be found on the rocky bottoms in the northeast part of the Atlantic Ocean. It has a long, snakelike body and a blackish-grey color with a white belly.
During the reproduction season, the congers stop feeding and leave the European waters in order to migrate to the subtropical areas of the Atlantic Ocean where they spawn. After the hatching, they will return to the European waters.
The European Conger is commercially fished, but it is not a target species so it is not considered to be in danger of extinction.

Often seen in Tavolara Island
