The estuary catfish is found in various parts of Australia, including around Tasmania. They resemble a catfish in the front and an eel in the back. This species can grow up to 91 cm (35.6 in) in length and live up to 13 years. Its dorsal and pectoral fins have venomous spines that can inflict painful wounds.
