The eastern blue devil is a colorful fish endemic to Australia. It is a protected species under the laws of New South Wales Fisheries.
The fish is shy and is most active at night. Nonetheless, males appear to be territorial and defend their homes in caves or overhangs.
Divers can find them in waters 3 to 30 meters deep.
