The granulated sea star is a large sea star with five arms. It can grow to a maximum radius of 27 cm.
The animal is distributed in numerous tropical waters, including the Indo-Pacific, the Great Barrier Reef, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, and more.
Choriaster granulatus can be found in waters as deep as 53 meters.
