The black-saddled coral grouper is a species of grouper found in the Indo-Pacific. It lives in lagoons and the seaward side of reefs, where it can be seen at depths between 4 to 100 meters.
The fish can grow to a length of 125 centimeters (49 in), although most are around 84 centimeters (33 in).
