The bar jack is a species of inshore marine fish found through the western Atlantic Ocean. What sets it apart from other species of jack is the dark horizontal line which runs along the back and down the caudal fin, often accompanied by an electric blue stripe.
The fish enjoys clear shallow waters, and can often be seen over coral reefs. It can reach a maximum size of 65 cm and a weight of 6.8 kg.
