Thomas Reef may be the smallest reef in the Straits of Tiran, but it is one of the most visited thanks to its biodiversity.

The dive is usually done as a drift, passing by the eastern and western walls which are covered with soft and hard corals. The east wall drops to dramatic depths while the west wall has caves and overhangs. There’s also a stunning canyon on the eastern side that starts at 35 meters/115 feet. It runs parallel to the reef and is crossed by three arches.

Marine life includes species like trevallies, barracudas, groupers, tuna, hawkfish, glassfish, and whitetip reef sharks.

Diving is possible all year round, with a water temperature that ranges from 22° to 28° C/71°- 82° F. Sometimes, the current can get very strong, making it impossible to explore the western side.
