One of the world's most spectacular cavern dives, The Pit is a diver's haven. With a depth of about 119 meters (391 feet), it is the deepest of all cenotes in the region of Quintana Roo. The site was discovered by cave explorers in 1996.
The water clarity is exceptional, a visibility of over 100 meters (328 feet) ensuring one of the best dives of one's life.
During the summer, light beams reach depths of more than 27 meters (88 feet), bringing a turquoise light into the site. Some of the other highlights of this dive spot include the amazing stalactites of all sizes.
Divers need to check for air frequently when diving here and must also be aware of their decompression limits. Only advanced divers can dive The Pit.
