Ss Stavronikita Wreck

Dive site in
Improve

The SS Stavronikita is located in Bridgetown and is one of the best wreck dive sites in Barbados. The former Greek freighter caught fire in the mid-'70s and was sunk on purpose in 1978 to create an artificial reef. It now lies with its stern at 30 meters/100 feet and its bow at 20 meters/70 feet.

The wreck has a length of about 110 meters/365 feet. Penetration is possible.

There’s an abundance of marine species on and around the SS Stavronikita, including soft and hard corals, sponges, sergeant majors, barracudas, blue chromis, and sea turtles.
