Simon’s Reef is a dive site located northeast of Gili Air, Indonesia. This is a superb coral reef dive suitable for advanced divers. Its most impressive part is the variety of corals, overhangs, and outcrops, that makes this an exciting dive with numerous underwater attractions. Towards the end of the reef, there’s also a pinnacle teeming with fish life. Divers can also observe some interesting sand bars that resemble the dunes in a desert.
Marine life includes white tip reef sharks, spotted eagle rays, green sea turtles, barracudas, tuna, lobsters, porcelain crabs, fusiliers, and lots of colorful reef fish. Those with a trained eye may also be lucky enough to spot pygmy seahorses.
Scuba diving at Simon’s Reef is possible year-round, with an average annual water temperature of about 28° C/ 82° F and great visibility. However, the currents can get strong.
