Shaab Sharm is one of the best dives of Marsa Alam. The reef lies 12km from the shore and measures 700 meters in length. Its depth exceeds 200 meters.
The steep walls are overgrown with coral and the strong currents attract a variety of big fish. You’ll be amazed by the schooling snappers and jacks, as well as the reef sharks.
Most dives take place at the eastern tip of the reef, where there’s a plateau that begins at 17 meters/55 feet and drops to 35 meters/115 feet. Below the plateau, at 45 meters/148 feet, there’s a cave that certified cave divers can explore.
Another route starts at the western tip. The plateau here starts at 25 meters/82 feet. Sightings of big fish have been reported here. Dolphins too. The current is less strong here than on the eastern tip.
