Punta Sur is recognized as one of the best dive sites in Cozumel. It’s located on the southern end of the island and features a wall that goes down to a depth of about 50 meters/165 feet. There are also many different caves ("The Cathedral" is the most impressive) that divers can enter and explore. Then there’s also an area with coral reefs and an abundance of fish.
The dives generally take place between 15 to 27 meters/50-88 feet, but there are some swim-throughs found at depths below 30 meters/100 feet.
Because of the depth, tight spaces, and unpredictability of the currents, the Punta Sur area should only be attempted by experienced, advanced divers. Diving is possible year-round, but the peak season runs from December to April.
