The P29 Patrol Boat was purposely sank in 2007 so as to become an attraction for divers and an artificial reef.
The wreck currently stands in an upright position at a depth of 35 meters deep, and therefore it is suitable only for the advanced divers. Nevertheless, the area has incredible visibility and even Open Water divers can observe the upper deck of the wreck, as long as they have great buoyancy skills and are able to remain within their training limits.
The P29 Patrol Boat was built in East Germany, where it was also used as a minesweeper, before being bought by the Maltese Government in 1997. Prior to its scuttling, the ship was stripped of hazards and numerous areas have been left open for divers to explore.
