MV Commerce suffered a lot of damage in 1984 due to Hurricane Klaus, when it was wrecked. The traces of the hurricane were so severe, that the ship had to be sunk in 1986, thus creating an artificial reef that is nowadays teeming with marine life. Barracudas, hog fish, goat fish, spadefish and many different types of rays populate the 45-meter vessel. One of the highlights in marine life are the huge lobsters that live in the various holes in the ship.
The ship's stern propeller is still intact and the heel still contains various kinds of cargo, such as machine parts and old vehicles.
