Mortoriotto Island is part of the La Maddalena National Park, a geomarine national park on the coast of Sardinia. It consists of two rocks that rise from the seabed to a height of about 10 meters above the surface of the water. The outer rock is recommended for advanced divers only and it offers a wonderful drop-off covered with red sea fans.
There are also two cars at depth of 38 meters/125 feet, with the wheels, chassis, and steering wheels still underwater. Red chestnuts have taken over these wrecks. It seems that one knows how the cars ended up here.
Some of the marine creatures you can spot around Mortoriotto include barracudas, blue damselfish, pavonine damselfish, sea hare, starfish, and crustaceans, among other common Mediterranean species.
