The Million Hope was a bulk carrier measuring more than 170 meters in length. It was launched as the "Ryusei Maru" but was renamed “Million Hope” in 1996 after having been insured for 40 million. Unfortunately, less than two months later, while sailing from Aqaba (Jordan) to Taiwan, the ship struck the reef near Nabq and sank.
Much of the ship’s structure is above the surface of the water, and the wreck can be seen from miles away. The starboard rests against the reef and the keel lies along the seabed at 19 – 24 meters underwater. Penetration is possible.
After years underwater, the structure is now covered with marine flora like seagrass and has become a habitat for fish like lionfish and fusiliers.
