La Passe Saint Jacques is one of the most beautiful dive sites in Mauritius. This is a drift dive, and due to the frequent strong currents, it’s recommended for advanced divers only.
The site has a depth of 3 to 30 meters/10-100 feet. You’ll start the dive in a shallow lagoon, descend, and then let the currents do the rest. You’ll pass by several pinnacles, corals, and numerous fish. At some point, you’ll reach a cathedral where you can spot grey reef sharks. There are sometimes more than a dozen sharks here!
Other marine animals you can see here: bull sharks, eagle rays, stingrays, sea turtles, moray eels, barracudas, trevallies, snappers, lionfish, nudibranchs, and more.
You can dive at St. Jacques dive site all year round! The water temperatures range from 22° to 28° C/71° to 82° F.
