Hunga Reef is a patch reef located off the northern tip of Zanzibar Island. The maxim depth here is 18 meters/60 feet, so all divers can enjoy the underwater views in this area. But you’ll need to dive on the slack tide to minimize current.
This is a great place to spot large schools of fish like yellow snappers, emperors, and twinstripe fusiliers. You’ll also see unicorn surgeonfish, crocodile fish, trevallies, groupers, moray eels, and maybe even some big stuff such as reef sharks, manta rays, and eagle rays.
July to September and December to January are considered the best periods for diving in Zanzibar.
