Yukon is one of the largest wrecks in California that can be accessed by divers. It is 111 meters/366 feet long and sits just off Mission Bay at a depth of about 30 meters/100 feet. The ship sunk before its planned sinking, landing on the seabed on its port side.

Penetration is possible through some large cutouts made for divers. Only certified wreck divers are permitted to explore the ship’s insides such as the captain’s cabin, engine room, rudder room, operations room, among others. Dive maps of the ship layout at available at local dive shops and you should also find them at the entry and exit points of the ship.

The wreck is covered with plumose anemones, strawberry anemones, purple and brown gorgonians, sponges, hydrocorals, mussels, and urchins. Fish life includes jacks, seabass, lingcod, perch, rockfish, and more.
