Giannis D, originally named Shoyo Maru, was a cargo ship built in 1969 and wrecked in 1983 at Sha’ab Abu Nuhas, a reef known as Red Sea’s shipwreck graveyard.
The 100-meter-/30-foot-long ship now lies broken in three sections at depths between 10 and 28 meters/33 – 92 feet. It is covered with soft coral and shelters lots of animals.
Wreck divers can penetrate the ship to view its engine room which houses the diesel engine.
Giannis D can be dived all year round. The wreck is accessible to divers of all levels within the depth limits of their certification. Visibility is great, up to 30 meters/100 feet.
