El Mina / El Minya

Improve

El Mina is a shipwreck that lies on her portside in the Hurghada Harbour. She lies with her bow at 25 meters deep and her stern at 32 meters deep, therefore being suitable for the advanced and deep divers.

El Mina has a length of 60 to 70 meters.

The ship was downed in 1970 by Israeli fighter planes, and its anti-aircraft guns and minesweeping equipment are still visible.

The only place in which it is advised to penetrate the ship is the hole in the hull, made by the fighter planes.

There is hardly any coral populating the ship, and therefore there are also few species of fish. There are only several species of hard corals, anemones and glassfish.

Passageways are quite small. Surrounding seabed is quite grey with lots of old dead coral. Another wreck of a large fishing boat is only about 50 metres away on a bearing of 90° East from the stern.
