El Hongo is a dive site off Puerto Del Carmen, Lanzarote. The name means “mushroom” and it refers to the mushroom-shaped rock that lies here. This spot is also known for its long steep wall that runs from a depth of 20 to 40 meters/66-131 feet.

Lots of fish can be seen around the wall – from small schools of fish to bigger ones such as perch, trumpetfish, groupers, and barracudas.

Visibility is great, with an average of 30 meters/100 feet. The maximum depth at El Hongo is 50 meters/164 feet, but divers of all levels can enjoy this spot within the depth limit of their certification. Currents are not an issue here.
