This place in Nessebar creates the same conditions as a swimming pool. Nearby there is an archaeological Byzantine wall that can be looked at. For several years, scientists from the Center for Underwater Archaeology have focused their efforts on studying the sunken fortress structures of the ancient settlement. Nessebar did not sink suddenly, but the waves over millennia took away the fortress facilities of the ancient settlement. It is known that today's Nessebar is an ancient Thracian settlement, later transformed with the arrival of Dorian settlers into a Hellenic colony under the name Messambria, and with the conquest of these lands by the Roman Empire in 72/71 BC it became a Roman city with the name Messambria Pontica.
