Chikin Ha Cenote

Dive site in
Improve

Cenote Chikin Ha is one of the most beautiful cenotes in Mexico and is located just 23km from Playa del Carmen. From above, this cenote looks like a half-circle and is surrounded by vegetation. Inside, it is filled with crystal-clear water and opens up into a large crevice that boasts spectacular underwater topography.

The depth of the Chikin Ha dive site ranges from 2 meters (7 feet) to about 15 meters (50 feet). There is only one cavern at Chikin Ha, but divers can follow a tunnel to reach the neighboring Cenote Rainbow if they wish to extend their dive.

The halocline layer where freshwater and saltwater meet is located at about 12 meters (39 feet) on the way to the Cenote Rainbow. Besides the halocline, some of the other highlights here are the ancient stalactites and stalagmites.
