Captain Dan is a 50-meter-long/175-foot-long Coast Guard buoy tender that was also used as an ice breaker and in her final year for refueling seaplanes for the US Air Force. She was sunk in February 1990 as part of the Rodeo Reef.
Today, the ship lies upright with her bow pointing south. The depth range at this spot is 24-35 meters/78-115 feet, which makes this an advanced dive.
Captain Dan is in good condition and it has been prepared for penetration. Wreck divers can enter the ship through one of the multiple large access points.
Beware of the strong current.
