Batu Lumbung (Manta Point)

Dive site in
Improve

Batu Lumbung dive site is located on the south-east point of Nusa Penida. The topography is superb, with staggering limestone cliffs, small white sand coves, and pinnacles. Visibility is good, ranging from 10 to 30 meters (33-100 feet).

The entry point to Batu Lumbung is in a small bay, against the cliffs. Divers descend to about 8 meters where they’ll find a huge boulder that acts as a cleaning station for the manta rays. In fact, Batu Lumbung is also known as Manta Point. When the manta rays are present, divers usually remain at this depth and don’t venture any further.

Divers who wish to venture further down can pick one of the sandy channels and follow it. Batu Lumbung slopes to about 18 meters (60 feet) and then gradually goes down to a large sandy patch at a depth of about 40 meters (130 feet). The sandy seabed is usually field with blue-spotted stingrays.

Another option for those that prefer a deep dive is to go in on the western side of the small bay, where there’s a drop-off to 30 meters (100 feet).
