Astron Wreck

Astron is a wreck dive site in Punta Cana. The former Russian freighter is 127 meter-/416 foot-long and weighs about 27,000 tons. The ship ran aground during a storm in 1978. It now lies broken in two with the bow above the water and the stern at a depth of about 15 meters/50 feet.

The shipwreck is in good condition and divers can get to see its structure. It is filled with underwater flora and fauna that includes species such as barracudas, rays, snappers, and – of course – a variety of corals and sponges.

Visibility is excellent, exceeding 30 meters/100 feet. The water temperature remains pleasant throughout the seasons and diving is possible year-round.
