Description

Dive site is located just in front of Agia Kiriaki. Fiskardo divers have placed a buoy at 38°19.051'N • 20°29.217'E to signal the position. A full description of the dive can be found at http://www.fiskardo-divers.com. Parts of the wreck were visible from the surface once we put our masks in the water. Descended right on top of the roof of the bridge which still has various elements attached to it including a radar. Two batteries are also there (mentioning it for any environmentally minded diver group who might want to take them out of the water). We had excellent visibility which allowed to observe the small ferry in its entirety as we descended. We crossed the bridge entering from a door on one side and exiting through a window on the other. A variety of equipment and objects can still be seen abandoned on the floor. We then did the same on the lower deck. A further opening on the floor allows a peak at the engine room. We decided not to squeeze in. Very good dive to gain competence in not disturbing the particulate deposits when swimming close to the bottom (or floor in this case). Exiting the pilot house we swam along the barge to explore the two lorries still parked on it. A third lorry must have floated off when the ferry was sinking. It now sits perfectly upright on the sea bed, somehow a stranger sight than a sunken ship. Lots of curious Jack fish accompanied our dive, encircling us on many occasions. Fun dive for all (20m), great for a first experience with a wreck dive.
