San Pedro And The Yo-257

Punto de inmersión en
Improve

San Pedro and the YO-257 are two shipwrecks that are close enough to each other that you can see them on a single dive. They are considered some of the best shipwrecks in all of the Hawaiian Islands.

Both wrecks were sunk on purpose to create artificial reefs and have been in the water for dozens of years. Consequently, they have attracted a lot of marine life. You can see a multitude of corals and fish, as well as big green sea turtles and even whitetip reef sharks.

San Pedro, a former Korean fishing boat, was taken underwater in 1994. It measures 38 meters/125 feet and sits in 25 meters/85 feet of water. Penetration is possible but one needs to be careful because there is the risk of getting tangled in different pieces of metal still inside the ship.

The YO-257 is a former Navy yard oiler that was sunk in 1989. It measures 53 meters/175 feet and sits at a depth of about 30 meters/100 feet and has been prepared for penetration dives, with many access holes throughout it.
