Poison Reef is a superb patch reef in the Marine Protected Area of Balaclava, Mauritius. It is a shallow site with a depth of only 16 meters/52 feet, perfect for beginner divers.
The site got its name because of all the venomous fish found here: scorpionfish, lionfish, stonefish, leaf fish, and lots of moray eels. But as long as you make sure not to touch the wildlife, you should be just fine. Along with the not-so-friendly fish, you’ll also spot some beautiful anemones and Mauritian clownfish.
