The ribbon eel is a species of moray eel found in lagoons and reefs in the Indo-Pacific region. They are frequently spotted by scuba divers in Indonesian waters. Moray eels are well known for their characteristic jaws and long protruding nostrils. You will usually only see the ribbon eel’s head and upper body, as they live burrow in the sand and hide under rocks.
