The lion's mane jellyfish is one of the largest species of jellyfish in the world, the largest-known specimen's tentacles measuring 36 meters/120 feet long and with a bell diameter of 210 centimeters/7 feet.

It inhabits the boreal waters of the Arctic, northern Atlantic and northern Pacific. Nonetheless, it has also been observed in large bays on the east coast of the United States.

This jellyfish's sting can cause temporary pain and redness, but it's not known to be fatal.
