The angelshark has a forward part of the body that is broad and flattened, while the rear part is more muscular and appears more typical of other sharks. Its eyes are on the top while the five gill slits are on its back.
Its skin is grey to reddish or greenish-brown, with small white dots and blackish spots.
Its average length is of around 1.5 meters and its has whisker-like projections to taste and feel.
The angelshark is a bottom-dweller, but its powerful jaws and sharp teeth can lead to painful lacerations if provoked, especially if divers approach the head or grab its tail.
