Stella Maru is a former Japanese trawler that was sunk on purpose in 1987 to create an artificial reef. The 42-meter long ship, which remains in great condition, now lies upright on the sandy bottom next to a rocky reef and it’s partially covered in algae, corals, anemones, and sea urchins.
Giant moray eels, parrotfish, lionfish, anglerfish, mackerels, leaf fish, stonefish, and scorpionfish are just some of the creatures you can see around the shipwreck.
Stella Maru is found at a depth of about 27 meters/88 feet and can be dived by advanced divers. diving is possible year-round; the water temperature ranges between 20°-28° C/62°-82° F. Underwater visibility is good, and the currents are mild. Good spot for underwater photographers!
