Salt Pier is one of Bonaire’s top dive sites. The spot features salt- and sponge-encrusted pillars visited by schools of hundreds of fish. It’s the volume of fish and the presence of artificial pillars claimed by the sea that create the perfect scenery for underwater photography. Barracudas and tarpons gather under the platform in schools, but the pier attracts many other marine species such as frogfish, trunkfish, moray eels, octopus, blennies, shrimps, and crabs.
Salt Pier is best dived during the main diving season which runs from December to April. The water temperature ranges from a minimum of 26 °C/79 °F in February to a maximum of 29 °C/84 °F in September. The site can be dived by divers of all levels within their depth limit. The average depth is 17 meters (56 feet).
