Roca Redonda islet is an outstanding dive site located off the northwest tip of Isabela Island. The site is famous for its fumaroles (hot sulphurous gases bubbles), which are caused by volcanic activity. But this is not a dive for heat-seekers. The water here is cold and divers are required to wear a full exposure protection suit. Because of the cold Cromwell current, the water temperatures are always low.

Sea lions, schools of scalloped hammerheads, Galapagos sharks, manta rays, barracudas, jacks, yellow-tailed surgeonfish, and king angelfish are just some of the marine animals you can spot here. Even the elusive sunfish can make an appearance.

The site is reachable by liveaboard only. Unfortunately, because of the unpredictable downcurrents and heavy surge, diving is not always possible at Roca Redonda.
