The P47 Thunderbolt Plane Wreck, or “Santa Maria”, was an American fighter aircraft in service during the Pacific theatre of the Second World War.
It is one of the seven P47s that got ditched in the ocean. Only three of the planes have been found by divers, with Santa Maria being the most intact and accessible.
The plane is found at a depth of 28 meters/92 feet on a sloping reef where it rests upside down. After decades in the ocean, the wreck is covered with corals and teeming with marine life.
